Has Anyone Ever Called You A Ham And Egger?

A couple pictures from a recent road trip to Pittsburgh.

Lovely yellow bridges.

PNC Park is a beautiful place to see a ballgame. Even when your team gets burned.

Fried chicken for breakfast is where it's at.

A Ticket To Ride.

This weekend was for poster printing!
6 colours on nice mustardy paper.

The poster for this show was designed to go with the CD which is being released (despite being completely different colours). Bring on the cohesiveness!

You've Got Air Mail.

Despite being nervous about printing on a glossy surface for the first time, these CD packages turned out exactly as I hoped they would! YES.

All Hands On Deck!

Just finished designing this CD for We Take Lovers. One of my loveliest lady friends is in this band, so it's a total pleasure on my part to be involved. Soon it'll be time for the screen printing. Glossy white cardboard packages, ahoy!

A piece of something else I've been working on . . . .

Dehydration Station.

Spent another Saturday in the studio. It's fitting that the distortion pedal I've been borrowing (pictured above) is called Jekyll and Hyde, as the recent hot weather has me feeling some . . . seasonal duality of character - ha!

Question: Can anyone really drink 8 glasses of water a day? I perpetually fail this hydration standard, badly! I wonder how many people I know truly achieve this level of healthy internal wetness.

Web crush: these modified vintage ceramics by Esther Coombs (via Poppytalk). Pretty!

A Pretty Plastic Piece Of Crap!

If I was rich (or more well off rather) I would love to buy this beautful seafoam green Diana camera (they sell it at Urban Outfitters). I realize how horribly trendy buying nostalgia items from Urban Outfitters is, but since I'm not rich I don't have to worry about actually making the purchase, ha. A while ago D and I were poking around at some pawn shops downtown and I (a person who knows very little about cameras) asked a guy if he had any Lomo cameras. He responded with an exasperated "Lomo is a Russian piece of crap! And I'm Russian! It's worthless! If you want to buy a piece of crap go on the Ebay!" Then he told me a few people looking like me had recently asked him for this type of camera. This man effectivley reduceded me to the cliche demographic I truly am. He was amazing.

This past week has been spent sick (again, really!) so there has been very little art making and too much tea drinking. I feel the cloud of illness dissapearing as we speak though, which will mean good things for fun projects once again.

Tough Love.

The King has been transformed into a show poster. A sleazy piece of promotion. He's a tough fighter that likes loud music and lots of attention from his kingdom. He believes in be-headings and sleep deprivation experiments . . . be afraid.

This show is going to be good times. We Versus The Shark is an awesome band from the US you should check out for sure (CLICK!).

Also! We have a few new songs that we're stoked about playing before we start being song writing shut-ins for the next month or two in preparation for recording.

Bring on the Sunday night adventures.

The Great Outdoors.

This weekend I took the tank outside for a backyard adventure. He was super stoked about it, rolling around like he was 4 years younger and 10 pounds lighter. A new man indeed.

Though I have NO expertise when it comes to gardening, I've decided to finally attempt a backyard clean up. D and I NEVER used our very private and amazing back yard last year. This = criminal. So far I'm just in the cleaning up debris phase, but I managed to (trans)plant some parsley and basil into one of the garden worthy areas. I wonder if they'll live!? Let the great experiment begin . . . .

Step By Step!

Setting Up.

Layer 1.

Layer 2 (blue is darker then I intended - bah!).

Layer 3.

Almost there . . .

Layer 4 - Done!

The text reads easier in better light. I am lazy at the picture taking post printing, ha.

THE END!

Goodbye Death Flu, Hello Spring Fever.

I've finally kicked the dreaded DEATH FLU. DEATH FLU was not good for being creative or productive. DEATH FLU was generally a shitty house guest and bad friend. Good riddance!

D and I picked up some really nice cream paper today for this poster. We're making 50 copies of this 4 colour beast over the next few days.

I picked up this very pretty looking book the other day and am looking forward to reading it my backyard now that it's basically summer. The authors purpose (Joshua Glenn and Carol Hayes) was to investigate the "human drive and capacity to invest inanimate objects with meaning." I've always enjoyed hearing the stories behind people's valued things - especially found things with little to no retail value. Call me sentimental . . . .
